QCHP Licence for Nurses
A QCHP registration is what permits a nurse to practise nursing in Qatar. Verification is the one stage with a published cost. Which qualification levels QCHP accepts, and whether an examination applies, are not figures we hold, so the useful preparation is the evidence every Gulf authority asks for.
Which council issues your good standing, and how long will it take?
Whatever QCHP turns out to require in detail, this question has the same answer everywhere and it is the one that most often sets the pace of a nursing application.
Nursing registration in many countries sits with a state or provincial council rather than a national one. The good standing certificate has to come from the council that actually holds your registration: not your employer, not a national body, and not the state you currently work in if you registered somewhere else.
Getting that wrong produces a document that looks right, takes weeks to obtain, and does not satisfy the requirement. Since GCC authorities generally accept a certificate only while it is under six months old, a wasted request is not a neutral event.
This is work you can do today without knowing anything further about QCHP. Identify the issuing council, find out its turnaround, and hold that information until you know when your Qatar submission is likely to land.
What does QCHP require of nurses?
QCHP assesses nursing applications against its own requirements. We hold no sourced statement of the qualification levels it accepts or the titles they map to.
What is safe to prepare is the evidence base: qualification, registration, experience and good standing, all of which will be verified at source.
- A recognised nursing qualification
- Current registration with the nursing council you practise under
- Post-qualification clinical experience evidenced by signed certificates
- A good standing certificate from the registering council
- [VERIFY: QCHP nursing classification levels, the qualifications accepted at each, and the minimum experience required.]
What exam do nurses take?
Whether an examination applies to nursing in Qatar, and who delivers it, is not on file for QCHP.
Ask QCHP directly rather than assuming the position of another Gulf authority. Exemptions differ, and an examination fee paid on an assumption is not refundable.
[VERIFY: QCHP examination requirement, provider, blueprint and fees for this profession. Obtain from QCHP before publishing any detail.]
Why no single question count applies across professions, and what to ask your authority instead, is covered on our Prometric explainer.
What documents do nurses need?
What to assemble, with the items specific to nurses marked by what they have to establish.
- Passport and photograph to the authority specification
- Nursing qualification certificate, attested
- Academic transcripts
- Current nursing council registrationFrom the council that holds your registration, which may be a state body.
- Good standing certificate from that same councilIdentify the issuing council early even though you should request the certificate late.
- Experience certificates signed by HR or the nursing directorA ward sister or unit manager signature is commonly returned across the Gulf.
- [VERIFY: the QCHP document checklist for nurses, including any items specific to Qatar.]The list above is the GCC pattern rather than a QCHP specification.
Good standing must come from the nursing council that holds your registration, which may be a state rather than a national body, and GCC authorities generally accept one only while it is under six months old. The sequencing trap is explained on our good standing guide.
How much does it cost for nurses?
Regulator and third-party fees only, paid by you directly to the authority or provider. Where a row reads Not published we hold no sourced figure and will not estimate one.
| Item | Fee | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Primary source verification | QAR 1,100-1,500 | Approximately 300-410 USD |
| Fixed verification package | Not published | [VERIFY: whether QCHP quotes a fixed verification package for nurses, and at what figure.] |
| Examination | Not published | [VERIFY: QCHP examination for nurses. Obtain from the authority before publishing any figure.] |
| Application | Not published | [VERIFY: QCHP application for nurses. Obtain from the authority before publishing any figure.] |
| Total government fees | Not published | [VERIFY: QCHP total government fees for nurses. Obtain from the authority before publishing any figure.] |
QCHP verification is the only figure we can cite. Unlike DHA, which quotes a lower fixed package for nurses and allied health, QCHP publishes no profession bands on file.
Our advisory fee is not published. It is quoted per case, in writing, after a free eligibility consultation, because it depends on your title, how many credentials need verifying and whether attestation applies. The costs page explains what moves that number.
How long does it take?
[VERIFY: QCHP end-to-end licensing timeline for this profession. No range is held on file and none will be borrowed from another authority.]
Verification itself runs 15-25 working days from the date of payment and submission of a complete set of documents, and a resubmission costs 50 to 100 percent of the original fee. See DataFlow verification.
Where does this sit in the wider process?
This page covers nurses under QCHP specifically. The authority, the sibling professions and the same profession elsewhere in the Gulf are covered separately.
- QCHP licensing in Qatar, the authority page for every profession
- QCHP licence for physiotherapists, a comparable clinical or allied route
- QCHP licence for doctors, a comparable clinical or allied route
- Healthcare licensing across the GCC, if the country is not settled yet
What else do nurses ask?
Which council should issue my good standing certificate?
The one that holds your registration. Where nursing is registered at state or provincial level that is the state council, not a national body and not the state you currently work in if you registered elsewhere. This answer holds regardless of what QCHP turns out to require in other respects.
Is there a lower verification fee for nurses, as there is at DHA?
Not on file for QCHP. DHA quotes a lower fixed package for nurses and allied health; the QCHP figure we hold is a single range. We will not assume a band that is not published.
Do nurses sit an examination for Qatar?
We do not know and will not guess. Ask QCHP directly. Exemption rules vary between Gulf authorities by qualification and by area of practice, so the Dubai or Riyadh answer does not transfer.
Do you place nurses in Qatari hospitals?
No. We are not a recruitment agency, we do not place candidates, and we do not recruit nurses into any country. We prepare the registration that makes you licensable. Finding the role is between you, employers and licensed recruitment agencies.
How long will a Qatar application take?
We hold no QCHP timeline and will not borrow one from another authority. If you have an offer with a start date, put the question to QCHP and to the employer, and get the answer in writing before you resign anything.
What can I usefully do now?
Identify your registering council and its turnaround, gather and attest your qualification documents, and have your experience certificates checked for the right signatory. None of that depends on the QCHP details we are missing, and all of it will be needed.
