QCHP Licence for Doctors

A QCHP registration is what permits a doctor to practise medicine in Qatar. Primary source verification is the one stage we can price from a published source. The classification requirements, the examination and the overall timeline are not figures we hold, so this page tells you what to ask rather than inventing answers.

What should you establish with QCHP before you commit?

Qatar is the least documented of the three Gulf healthcare authorities we publish profession pages for, and that is a fact about our sources rather than about the regulator. It changes what a useful page can do for you.

What we can tell you with a citation is the verification cost. What we cannot is the classification structure, whether an examination applies to your specialty, or how long the process runs. A page that filled those gaps by describing how Dubai or Riyadh works would read confidently and mislead you specifically, because the three authorities differ from one another in exactly those respects.

So the useful thing is a list of questions to put to QCHP in writing before you accept an offer with a start date. Which classification levels exist and what evidence supports each. Whether an examination applies to your specialty and who delivers it. What the end-to-end timeline typically is. Which documents must be attested and in what order.

An employer recruiting you into Qatar will often have answers, because they have taken doctors through this before. Ask them too, and ask for it in writing.

What does QCHP require of doctors?

QCHP assesses medical applications against its own published requirements. We hold no sourced statement of what those are at each classification level, so nothing on this page should be read as a specification.

What applies across the Gulf, and is safe to prepare for, is that your primary qualification, postgraduate qualifications, current registration and employment history will all be verified at source.

  • A primary medical qualification from a recognised institution
  • Postgraduate and specialty qualifications
  • Current registration with the medical council or authority you practise under
  • Post-qualification clinical experience evidenced by signed certificates
  • [VERIFY: QCHP classification levels for doctors, the qualifications accepted at each, and the minimum post-qualification experience.]

What exam do doctors take?

Whether an examination applies to your specialty, and who delivers it, is not something we hold on file for QCHP.

Do not assume the Dubai or Riyadh position applies. Exemptions differ between authorities by specialty and by qualification, and a non-refundable fee paid on an assumption is a fee wasted.

[VERIFY: QCHP examination requirement, provider, blueprint and fees for this profession. Obtain from QCHP before publishing any detail.]

Why no single question count applies across professions, and what to ask your authority instead, is covered on our Prometric explainer.

What documents do doctors need?

What to assemble, with the items specific to doctors marked by what they have to establish.

  • Passport and photograph to the authority specification
  • Primary medical qualification, attestedAttestation happens in the country that issued the document, in a fixed order.
  • Postgraduate and specialty certificates
  • Academic transcripts
  • Current medical registration or licenceFrom the medical council or authority you practise under.
  • Good standing certificate from your medical councilGCC authorities generally require one under six months old at submission.
  • Experience certificates signed by HR or the medical director
  • [VERIFY: the QCHP document checklist for doctors, including any items specific to Qatar.]The list above is the GCC pattern rather than a QCHP specification.

Good standing must come from the medical council or authority holding your registration, and GCC authorities generally accept one only while it is under six months old. The sequencing trap is explained on our good standing guide.

How much does it cost for doctors?

Regulator and third-party fees only, paid by you directly to the authority or provider. Where a row reads Not published we hold no sourced figure and will not estimate one.

Total government feesNot published[VERIFY: QCHP total government fees for doctors. Obtain from the authority before publishing any figure.]

QCHP verification is the one figure we can cite. No examination, application or total figure is on file, and we will not produce one by analogy with DHA or SCFHS.

Our advisory fee is not published. It is quoted per case, in writing, after a free eligibility consultation, because it depends on your title, how many credentials need verifying and whether attestation applies. The costs page explains what moves that number.

How long does it take?

[VERIFY: QCHP end-to-end licensing timeline for this profession. No range is held on file and none will be borrowed from another authority.]

Verification itself runs 15-25 working days from the date of payment and submission of a complete set of documents, and a resubmission costs 50 to 100 percent of the original fee. See DataFlow verification.

This page covers doctors under QCHP specifically. The authority, the sibling professions and the same profession elsewhere in the Gulf are covered separately.

What else do doctors ask?

Why does this page have so many gaps?

Because our figures file holds a verification fee and a profession list for QCHP and little else. We publish what we can source and mark what we cannot. Filling the gaps with how Dubai or Riyadh operates would read as authoritative and would be wrong in exactly the places that matter to you.

What does QCHP verification cost?

The published range is in the cost table on this page, in Qatari riyals with a US dollar approximation. It is paid by you directly to the verification provider, as it is everywhere in the Gulf.

Do I need to sit an examination for Qatar?

We do not know for your specialty and will not guess. Exemption rules differ between Gulf authorities by specialty and qualification, so the Dubai answer is not transferable. Ask QCHP directly before paying for preparation or booking anything.

How long does QCHP licensing take?

We hold no timeline for QCHP and will not borrow one. For context on how widely this varies, DHA typically runs four to twelve weeks and SCFHS six to ten months, and there is no basis for placing Qatar at either end of that from what we hold.

Can I use a DHA or SCFHS licence in Qatar?

No. Each GCC state registers separately and none recognises another in place of its own assessment. What often transfers is the verification report underneath, which can remove the largest single fee and the longest wait from a second application.

Can you still help with a Qatar application?

Yes, and the honest description is narrower than for Dubai. We can manage verification, assemble and attest the document set, and establish the current requirements with QCHP on your behalf before you commit. What we will not do is charge you for certainty we do not have.
