Every GCC health authority requires the same four things: verified credentials, a professional examination, a registration application and an active renewal. There are 10 such authorities across the six states, five of them in the UAE alone, and a licence from one carries no weight with another.
Health regulation in the UAE sits at emirate level rather than federally, which is why one country has five regulators. The rest of the GCC operates a single national authority each.
The verifier writes directly to your university, your regulator and each employer you list. Standard verification takes 15-25 working days once a complete set is submitted.
A Prometric or authority assessment set by profession and specialty. Some qualifications and grades are exempt, which is worth establishing before you pay for preparation.
The portal application, classification at the correct title, and the eligibility letter or licence number that follows it.
Licences expire and continuing medical education credits accrue against what your authority requires. A lapsed licence stops work as firmly as never having held one.
The sequence is the same everywhere. What changes between authorities is the fee, the examination, the document list and how long each stage takes. The full four-stage explanation is on how it works.
Requirements are set by profession, not just by authority. The examination, the document set and the fee all differ between a doctor and a radiographer applying to the same regulator.

Verification with DHA runs AED 1,150-1,500 and the total government cost typically lands at AED 4,400-8,100, roughly 1,00,000-1,55,000 in rupees. SCFHS verification runs SAR 1,200-1,800. Every authority is itemised on the costs page, reviewed September 2026.
The cost people forget is a second attempt. Verification costs 50 to 100 percent of the original fee to run again, and examination fees are payable in full on each reattempt.
The one covering the facility where you will actually work. A licence is tied to a jurisdiction rather than to you, and in the UAE that means the specific emirate, and in Dubai the specific zone. Applying to the wrong regulator is the most expensive avoidable mistake in this process.
DHA and DHCR are legally independent regulators. A DHA licence has no validity inside Dubai Healthcare City.
Primary source verification is required by every GCC health authority. Without a positive DataFlow report, no GCC health authority will process a licence application.
It depends on the authority. DHA, DOH and MOHAP typically run 4-12 weeks. SCFHS in Saudi Arabia typically runs 6-10 months, because it is a five-stage process. Verification is the stage most likely to add time to either.
No. Each registration is separate and an SCFHS licence carries no validity in the UAE, or the reverse. What can often be reused is the verification report itself, which saves both time and the verification fee on a second application.
For DHA the recurring ones are: Good standing certificate older than six months; Experience certificates not signed by HR or the medical director; Qualification not matching the DHA Professional Qualification Requirements for the applied title. Almost all of them are documentary rather than a judgement about your competence, which means almost all of them are preventable.
