DHA Licence for Radiographers

A DHA licence for radiographers is the registration you need to practise diagnostic imaging on Dubai mainland. Radiography falls in the allied health verification band. What your file has to establish beyond qualification is the modalities you actually practise in, because general radiography, CT, MRI and interventional work are different areas of competence.

Which modalities does your evidence actually establish?

Radiography is a single profession covering several quite different areas of practice, and the gap between a qualification and a modality is where these applications get complicated.

A general radiography qualification obtained a decade ago does not by itself evidence current competence in CT, MRI or interventional work, and an employer's job title of senior radiographer does not specify which. Where your role and your intended role in Dubai involve specific modalities, your evidence should say so.

This matters commercially as well as regulatorily. A role advertised for MRI is a different conversation if your file establishes MRI practice than if it establishes general radiography and an assumption.

What does DHA require of radiographers?

DHA assesses radiography applications against its published qualification requirements for the relevant title.

Use the free Sheryan self-assessment before paying anything. It establishes whether your qualification is accepted and which title it supports.

  • A recognised radiography or medical imaging qualification
  • Evidence of the modalities you practise in
  • Current registration or licence, where your country issues one
  • Post-qualification experience evidenced by signed certificates
  • Radiation protection training, where your practice or your country requires it
  • [VERIFY: whether a DHA radiography licence is modality-restricted, and which qualification levels map to which imaging titles.]

What exam do radiographers take?

A Prometric assessment set for radiography. Whether it is set by modality is not something we can tell you from a published source.

Some qualifications and titles are exempt from assessment. Establish your position before booking, because the fee is non-refundable.

[VERIFY: DHA examination blueprint, question count, duration and pass mark for this profession and its specialties. Obtain from DHA before publishing any figure.]

Why no single question count applies across professions, and what to ask your authority instead, is covered on our Prometric explainer.

What documents do radiographers need?

What to assemble, with the items specific to radiographers marked by what they have to establish.

  • Passport and photograph to the authority specification
  • Radiography or medical imaging qualification, attestedAttested in the country that issued it.
  • Academic transcriptsThese evidence which modalities your programme covered.
  • Current registration or licence, where your country issues oneRadiography is regulated in some countries and not others.
  • Good standing certificate, where a registering body existsLess than six months old at submission.
  • Experience certificates signed by HR or the imaging directorShould name the modalities you worked in, not only your job title.
  • Modality-specific training certificates, where heldCT, MRI, interventional and ultrasound training where you hold it separately from your primary qualification.
  • Radiation protection training records, where heldWorth including even where you are unsure it is required.

Good standing must come from the body that registers radiographers in your country, where one exists, and GCC authorities generally accept one only while it is under six months old. The sequencing trap is explained on our good standing guide.

How much does it cost for radiographers?

Regulator and third-party fees only, paid by you directly to the authority or provider. Where a row reads Not published we hold no sourced figure and will not estimate one.

Radiography is an allied health profession, so the lower fixed verification package DHA quotes for nurses and allied health is the band that applies.

Our advisory fee is not published. It is quoted per case, in writing, after a free eligibility consultation, because it depends on your title, how many credentials need verifying and whether attestation applies. The costs page explains what moves that number.

How long does it take?

Typically 4-12 weeks for DHA licensing overall. Dependent on how quickly primary source verification clears.

Modality training certificates are the item most likely to be missing from a radiography file, because they are issued by employers and training providers rather than by a university and are rarely kept together.

Gathering them before verification starts is worth the effort, because adding documents partway through resets the clock on a submission that is meant to be complete.

Verification itself runs 15-25 working days from the date of payment and submission of a complete set of documents, and a resubmission costs 50 to 100 percent of the original fee. See DataFlow verification.

This page covers radiographers under DHA specifically. The authority, the sibling professions and the same profession elsewhere in the Gulf are covered separately.

What else do radiographers ask?

Is a DHA radiography licence restricted by modality?

We hold no sourced answer and will not invent one. What is worth acting on regardless is that your evidence should establish the modalities you practise in, because a file that only establishes general radiography is a weaker basis for a role that assumes CT or MRI competence.

My experience certificate says senior radiographer. Is that enough detail?

It may not be. A title tells an assessor your seniority but not your areas of practice. Where you can, have the certificate reissued to name the modalities you worked in as well as the role you held.

Do I need radiation protection training certificates?

We cannot tell you whether DHA requires them, and requirements differ between countries of practice. Include them if you hold them: an extra relevant document costs nothing, and a missing required one costs weeks.

How much is verification for radiographers?

Radiography is allied health, so the lower of the two fixed packages DHA quotes applies, the band it describes as nurses and allied health. The figures are published on this page.

My country does not register radiographers. What do I use for good standing?

Ask DHA what it accepts in place of a certificate from a registering body. This is a common position among imaging applicants and there is normally a route, but establish it before submitting.

Does a DHA licence cover Dubai Healthcare City?

No. Imaging centres inside Dubai Healthcare City are regulated by DHCR, which is a separate regulator. A DHA licence has no validity inside the free zone.
