SCFHS Licence for Radiographers

An SCFHS registration is what permits a radiographer to practise anywhere in Saudi Arabia. Verification must be complete before the registration application is submitted, so the modality training certificates that evidence what you actually practise have to be gathered before the process starts.

Can you produce your modality certificates today?

Imaging careers accumulate training that is never held in one place, and the Saudi sequence is unforgiving about that in a way shorter processes are not.

A radiographer with fifteen years of practice typically holds a primary qualification from a university, plus CT, MRI, interventional or ultrasound training delivered by hospitals, equipment vendors and short-course providers. The university certificate is easy to obtain again. The others are held by organisations that may have restructured, rebranded or stopped issuing records.

Because verification must be complete before the registration application is submitted, those certificates have to be in the bundle at the start. There is no stage at which you produce a CT competency record because an assessor queried your scope.

Do the inventory before anything else. List every modality you would want a Saudi employer to consider you competent in, then check whether you can actually evidence each one. The gap between those two lists is your first task.

What does SCFHS require of radiographers?

SCFHS assesses imaging applications against its requirements for the relevant title, and your evidence establishes both your qualification level and your areas of practice.

Because the process is sequential, evidence you intend to obtain later is evidence that does not count.

  • A recognised radiography or medical imaging qualification
  • Evidence of the modalities you practise in
  • Current registration or licence, where your country issues one
  • Post-qualification experience evidenced by certificates that name modalities
  • Radiation protection training records, where held
  • [VERIFY: whether an SCFHS imaging registration is modality-restricted, and which qualification levels map to which imaging classifications.]

What exam do radiographers take?

A Prometric assessment set for radiography. Whether it is set by modality is not something we can tell you from a published source.

Confirm the sequence relative to verification before booking, because Saudi puts verification first and the UAE authorities do not all agree on this.

[VERIFY: SCFHS examination blueprint, question count, duration and pass mark for this profession and its specialties. Obtain from SCFHS before publishing any figure.]

Why no single question count applies across professions, and what to ask your authority instead, is covered on our Prometric explainer.

What documents do radiographers need?

What to assemble, with the items specific to radiographers marked by what they have to establish.

  • Passport and photograph to the authority specification
  • Radiography or medical imaging qualification, attestedAttested in the country that issued it, before verification begins.
  • Academic transcriptsThese evidence which modalities your programme covered.
  • Modality-specific training certificatesCT, MRI, interventional and ultrasound. The hardest documents to obtain retrospectively and the ones to gather first.
  • Current registration or licence, where your country issues oneRadiography is regulated in some countries and not others.
  • Experience certificates naming modalities, not only the roleSenior radiographer tells an assessor nothing about scope.
  • Good standing certificate or its agreed alternativeRequest late in the sequence so it remains valid at assessment.
  • Radiation protection training records, where held

Good standing must come from the body that registers radiographers in your country, where one exists, and GCC authorities generally accept one only while it is under six months old. The sequencing trap is explained on our good standing guide.

How much does it cost for radiographers?

Regulator and third-party fees only, paid by you directly to the authority or provider. Where a row reads Not published we hold no sourced figure and will not estimate one.

SCFHS publishes no allied health verification band. The single verification range on file applies to imaging as to every other profession, and no examination or registration fee is on file.

Our advisory fee is not published. It is quoted per case, in writing, after a free eligibility consultation, because it depends on your title, how many credentials need verifying and whether attestation applies. The costs page explains what moves that number.

How long does it take?

Typically 6-10 months for SCFHS licensing overall. Five-stage process. Considerably longer than UAE licensing.

Six to ten months across five sequential stages. For radiographers the first weeks should go on chasing modality certificates from former employers and training providers, because that is the evidence most likely to be missing and slowest to replace.

Adding a document partway through does not extend one stage, it undermines a submission that was supposed to be complete.

Verification itself runs 15-25 working days from the date of payment and submission of a complete set of documents, and a resubmission costs 50 to 100 percent of the original fee. See DataFlow verification.

This page covers radiographers under SCFHS specifically. The authority, the sibling professions and the same profession elsewhere in the Gulf are covered separately.

What else do radiographers ask?

Which modality certificates should I gather?

Every modality you would want a Saudi employer to consider you competent in. Because verification must complete before the registration application is submitted, a certificate you obtain later is one nobody checked. The inventory is the first task, not a later one.

Is an SCFHS imaging registration restricted by modality?

We hold no sourced answer and will not invent one. What is worth acting on regardless is that a file establishing only general radiography is a weaker basis for a role that assumes CT or MRI competence.

My experience certificate just says senior radiographer. Is that a problem?

It tells an assessor your seniority but not your scope. Have it reissued to name the modalities you worked in, and do it before verification begins rather than after an assessor queries it.

What if my country does not register radiographers?

Ask SCFHS what it accepts in place of good standing before you start. The Saudi sequence requires verification to complete first, so an unresolved evidence question becomes a stalled file rather than a query you answer mid-process.

Is there a lower verification band for imaging?

Not on file for SCFHS. DHA quotes a lower fixed package for nurses and allied health; the SCFHS figure we hold is one range covering all professions, and we will not assume a band that is not published.

How does this compare to a UAE application?

Six to ten months against four to twelve weeks, and verification first rather than potentially alongside. If you are choosing between markets or planning around a start date, that difference is the main practical consideration.
