QCHP Licence for Dentists
A QCHP registration is what permits a dentist to practise in Qatar. Verification is the one stage with a published cost. Whether Qatar operates specialist dental classifications, and what evidence supports them, is not on file, so this page covers what to assemble and what to ask.
What specialist evidence can you actually produce?
Every Gulf authority that recognises dental specialties assesses them from training documentation rather than from a job title, and that documentation is usually held by an institution rather than by you.
Residency records, board certification, postgraduate programme certificates and logbooks all come from organisations that may have restructured since you were there. Retrieving them takes weeks at best, and it is the same task whichever regulator you are eventually applying to.
So do the inventory now, before you know what QCHP specifically requires. List the specialty claims you would want to make, then check what you can evidence for each. That work is not wasted under any version of the answer.
In parallel, ask QCHP whether specialist classifications exist, what evidence establishes each, and whether an examination applies to your specialty.
What does QCHP require of dentists?
QCHP assesses dental applications against its own requirements, and we hold no sourced statement of them.
The evidence base is consistent across the Gulf: primary qualification, specialty training, current registration and experience, all verified at source.
- A recognised primary dental qualification
- Specialty qualifications and training documentation, where you hold them
- Current registration with the dental council or authority you practise under
- Post-qualification clinical experience evidenced by signed certificates
- [VERIFY: QCHP dental classification levels, the qualifications accepted at each, and whether a surgical logbook requirement applies as it does at DHA.]
What exam do dentists take?
Whether an examination applies to dentistry in Qatar, and whether it is set by specialty, is not on file for QCHP.
Confirm with QCHP before booking. Exemption rules differ between Gulf authorities and the fee is not refundable.
[VERIFY: QCHP examination requirement, provider, blueprint and fees for this profession. Obtain from QCHP before publishing any detail.]
Why no single question count applies across professions, and what to ask your authority instead, is covered on our Prometric explainer.
What documents do dentists need?
What to assemble, with the items specific to dentists marked by what they have to establish.
- Passport and photograph to the authority specification
- Primary dental qualification, attested
- Specialty qualifications and training documentationStart retrieving these now. They are held by institutions and are slow to obtain.
- Academic transcripts
- Current dental registration or licence
- Good standing certificate from your dental council
- Experience certificates signed by HR or the medical director
- [VERIFY: the QCHP document checklist for dentists, including whether a two-year surgical logbook is required as at DHA.]The list above is the GCC pattern rather than a QCHP specification.
Good standing must come from the dental council or authority holding your registration, and GCC authorities generally accept one only while it is under six months old. The sequencing trap is explained on our good standing guide.
How much does it cost for dentists?
Regulator and third-party fees only, paid by you directly to the authority or provider. Where a row reads Not published we hold no sourced figure and will not estimate one.
| Item | Fee | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Primary source verification | QAR 1,100-1,500 | Approximately 300-410 USD |
| Fixed verification package | Not published | [VERIFY: whether QCHP quotes a fixed verification package for dentists, and at what figure.] |
| Examination | Not published | [VERIFY: QCHP examination for dentists. Obtain from the authority before publishing any figure.] |
| Application | Not published | [VERIFY: QCHP application for dentists. Obtain from the authority before publishing any figure.] |
| Total government fees | Not published | [VERIFY: QCHP total government fees for dentists. Obtain from the authority before publishing any figure.] |
QCHP verification is the only figure we hold for dentistry. No examination or registration fee is on file.
Our advisory fee is not published. It is quoted per case, in writing, after a free eligibility consultation, because it depends on your title, how many credentials need verifying and whether attestation applies. The costs page explains what moves that number.
How long does it take?
[VERIFY: QCHP end-to-end licensing timeline for this profession. No range is held on file and none will be borrowed from another authority.]
Verification itself runs 15-25 working days from the date of payment and submission of a complete set of documents, and a resubmission costs 50 to 100 percent of the original fee. See DataFlow verification.
Where does this sit in the wider process?
This page covers dentists under QCHP specifically. The authority, the sibling professions and the same profession elsewhere in the Gulf are covered separately.
- QCHP licensing in Qatar, the authority page for every profession
- QCHP licence for doctors, a comparable clinical or allied route
- QCHP licence for pharmacists, a comparable clinical or allied route
- Healthcare licensing across the GCC, if the country is not settled yet
What else do dentists ask?
Does QCHP require a surgical logbook like DHA does?
We do not know. DHA requires surgical specialties to submit a two-year logbook stamped by the medical director. Whether Qatar applies a comparable rule is not on file, and it is worth asking directly if your specialty is surgical, because a logbook is slow to assemble retrospectively.
Are there specialist dental classifications in Qatar?
Not something we hold for QCHP. Ask the council. The answer determines whether your specialty training documentation is central to the application or merely supporting, which in turn determines how urgently you need to retrieve it.
What does verification cost?
The published QCHP range is in the cost table on this page, in Qatari riyals with a US dollar approximation. Paid by you directly, in your own name.
How long does it take?
We hold no QCHP timeline and will not borrow one. For scale, DHA typically runs four to twelve weeks and SCFHS six to ten months, and there is no basis in our sources for placing Qatar relative to either.
Can I hold a Qatar and a UAE dental registration at once?
Yes, as two separate registrations. No GCC state recognises another in place of its own assessment. The verification report underneath can often be reused, which removes the largest single fee from the second application.
What should I do first?
Retrieve your specialty training documentation and attest your primary qualification. Both are needed under any version of the requirements, and both are slower than people expect.
